主要艺术成果： 1990年，《古都风情》获全国首届中国风俗画大奖赛一等奖。 1991年，《旧京人物图卷》获第一届民族文化风情大展一等奖。 1992年，《老天桥人物》获中国美术馆东方书画艺术大奖赛一等奖。 1993年，在北京当代美术馆举办个人展览。 1993年，《休闲图》获国际中国书画艺术大奖赛金奖。 1994年，《旧京风情图卷》获西苑杯大奖赛一等奖；《旧京风情》入选第八届全国美展，并获优秀作品奖。 1995年，《鸟人鸟事》获中国体育美术大展银奖。 1998年，《找乐》入选第九届全国美展；作品获世界华人美术大展银奖；作品获文化部群星美展银牌；11月，在瑞士举办个人画展；12月，在台湾举办个人画展。 2000年，《卖山货》入选中国美协提名展；《溜早图》入选中国美协第十九次新人新作展。 2001年，在中华世纪坛参加迎奥运八人展。 2003年，参见世纪坛举办的今日中国美术大展。 2004年，《全聚德烤鸭流程图》入选第十届全国美展。 近几年先后由香港心源出版社、福建美术出版社、大百科全书出版社、河北教育出版社、人民美术出版社等出版画集。 Ma Haifang was born in Beijing in 1956, graduated from Chinese Painting Department of Central Academy of Fine Arts. Now he is the artist of People’s Fine Arts Press, member of China Artists Association, professor and contract painter of Rongbaozhai Academy. Main Art Achievements: Scene of Old Capital won the first prize of National Chinese Genre Painting Competition in 1990. Figures in Old Beijing won the first prize of the first Nationality Cultural Custom Exhibition in1991. Figures in the Old Over Bridge got the first prize of the east painting and calligraphy competition in National Art Museum of China in 1992. Solo exhibition was hold in Beijing Modern Art Museum in 1993. Leisure Painting won gold medal in the International Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Competition in 1993. Custom Painting of Old Beijing got the first prize of “Xi Yuan Cup” and were selected into the 8th National Art Exhibition and got excellent works award in 1994. Play with Birds got the silver medal in China Sports Art Exhibition in 1995. In 1998, his work For Fun was selected into the 9th National Art Exhibition, and got silver awards in World Chinese Art Exhibition as well as in Stars Art Exhibition of Ministry of Culture. He held solo exhibitions in Switzerland in November and in Taiwan in December. In 2000, Selling Mountain Products was selected into the Nominate Exhibition of China Artists Association and Morning Walk was selected into the 19th New Artists and New Works Exhibition by China Artists Association. He attended the eight artists’ exhibition for welcoming Olympics at China Millennium Monument in 2001. He attended Today Chinese Art Exhibition at China Millennium Monument in 2003. Flow Char of making Quanjude Roast Duck was selected into the 10th National Art Exhibition. In recent years he has painting albums published by Hongkong Xinyuan Publishing House, Fujian Art Publishing House, Encyclopedia Press, Hebei Education Press, People’s Fine Arts Publishing House, etc.
海方的画有三个特点：一是造型准确、生动、丰富多变。这主要得力于他写生的功底和生活基础坚实。二是人物的适度变形。因此充实了画面的生活感，也有现代感。三是大胆用色。用墨用色服从于内容，给予视觉上的直观感，达到一目了然的效果。 海方的画儿用“没骨写意法”。所谓“没骨法”就是先铺色彩后勾线，即先用色彩表现大的形体，再用线把最关键的结构画出来予以补充，这些步骤都是在画面色墨有一定水分的情况下来完成。清代恽寿平用它画花卉，现代关良用它画戏剧里的人物。海方一改前人的做法，把“没骨法”运用到现代生活里的人物，因为少前例可循，要在“没骨”中“见骨”，无线条而现实人物轮廓和内在结构，难度很大。幸好经过严格训练的海方对解剖学、透视学下过一番功夫，处理得贴自然，使作品具有特殊韵味，人物形象生动，特点突出。他曾说：“现在大家都着重‘流行色’，画人物着眼于‘漂亮’，谁也不下功夫抠‘这个’。”他说的“这个”包括了从题材到表现手法的全部，美学家们将艺术个性称之为“这个”。
